Middleton Grove is an adapted building in Hove with a good bus service to Brighton and the surrounding area and a direct train service to London, via Haywards Heath.

The seafront and local parks are within walking distance and local shops are in Portland Road and George Street.

 

 

Middleton Grove is registered to care for people with physical health care needs and for people who require nursing care due to Dementia or memory loss. Residents are generally of retirement age but we are able to care for people younger than this if the assessment shows their needs can be met. Single and double rooms are available and each of the four units has its own lounge. Lifts are provided to all floors of the home to provide good access to residents and families.

 

 

 

Organisation

Middleton Grove has a registered care manager who is a qualified and experienced nurse with significant experience of managing care services.

The manager is supported by a Deputy and a team of registered nurses, care and support staff, including chefs, activity organisers, housekeeping, maintenance and administrative staff.

 

Medical Care

Medical care is provided by a local GP of the resident’s choice and in some cases, depending on distance, a resident may be able to retain the GP they had before moving to the home. The home employs a retainer GP should residents wish to use this service.

Referrals to specialist health services are arranged through the GP.

A chiropodist and optician visit the home to provide treatment for residents who wish to use their services.

 

 

Staff Training and Development

The home is fully committed to staff learning and development.  Some staff are working towards their NVQ qualifications and there are various monthly training courses available for staff development. 

 

 

 

 

Activities/ Entertainment

We employ activities staff to organise group and one to one entertainment for residents and this includes arranging for entertainers to visit the home on a regular basis.

These are based on resident choice and wishes.

 

 


Visiting Hours

We welcome visitors during the day but ask that visitors who wish to come during unsocial hours do so by prior arrangement as a mark of respect to all residents who live at the home.


Food

The chefs provide a balanced and varied choice of menu and are able to cater for people who have specialist dietary needs. Meal times are flexible and residents are able to choose whether they wish to have a meal in their own room or go to the dining room.

Drinks and snacks are available at other times in the day. We use the services of a community dietician where a resident’s care plan shows that this is required.


Service Users Questionnaire

A copy of our service users ‘views of the home’ and an analysis of the results of questionnaires sent out to the service users and their representatives is available upon request.


Complaints

The Management and Staff at Middleton Grove endeavour to provide a happy, caring and safe environment for all the residents. However, in the event of a resident or relative feeling dissatisfied we will investigate the problem as soon as possible. In the event of a complaint or issue of concern being made the following procedure should be followed:

  • The complainant should speak to the person in charge of the shift who will report the matter to the Manager to investigate.
  • All complaints will be responded to quickly. Written complaints will be acknowledged by letter within seven working days.
  • The Manager will investigate the complaint and send the complainant a letter outlining the result within twenty eight working days. Should the complaint take longer than this to finalise, the complainant will be informed.
  • If the complainant is not satisfied at the end of the investigation an appointment should be made with the Nominated Individual for the home to discuss the matter further.
